Meet Angelina

Angelina came to America from Avellino, Italy in the early nineteen hundreds through Elis Island with little more than a suitcase, a spirited laugh, and a stack of handwritten recipes. In her small kitchen she spoke love into every pot of ragù, every hand rolled pasta, and every Sunday bread. Welcoming family and friends with food that felt like home. Cooking was her love language, spoken through sauces simmered for hours, simple salads bright with olive oil and lemon, and desserts made from memory. She taught generations of our family how to celebrate life together.

Her recipes, techniques, and the joy of gathering at the table were carefully passed down not just as instructions, but as family traditions, lessons on patience, generosity, and how a single meal can hold a thousand stories. Two of her great grandsons, Steve and Jim, grew up like that, learning to taste, chop, share, and carry with them the warmth of those Sunday dinners.

To honor Angelina’s legacy, Steve and Jim opened an Italian market in North Carolina. Their market reflects her philosophy, quality ingredients, time honored family recipes, and a welcoming space where community and family meet. Through shelves of imported Italian goods, homemade sauces, and meals prepared with care, they aim to keep Angelina’s traditions alive and share her love of food and family with a neighborhood of neighbors and friends.
